户塚有辉/金田升/水谷果穗/西兴一朗/等，故事的发生地是在一座名为星元市的小城市。 在市内的狮子尾山上，耸立着一个闪耀着彩色光芒的巨大物体，这个被命名为“摩诺之角”的物体，实际上是16年前“怪兽之日”事件发生之后就矗立在那里的“怪兽的角”。 在世界各地同时出现怪兽的“怪兽之日”事件发生之后，怪兽灾害开始变得日常。日本的地球防卫队开始以武力对付怪兽的同时，怪兽防灾科学调查所（统称SKIP Scientific Kaiju Investigation and Prevention center）也为了防止怪兽灾害的发生和受灾情况扩大，不断对各地区进行科学调查和避难引导。这个组织时至今日，还在不停地调查“怪兽之日”出现的原因和城市中的“摩诺之角”。 年仅7岁的“优马”在狮子尾山与父母露营时，遭遇了怪兽袭击，他奇迹般地生还并毫发无伤。以此为契机，“优马”踏上了研究怪兽生物学的道路。虽然有着痛苦的过去...
